Introduction
To capacitate the private sector to assist their members in business growth and organizational development, APEFE in collaboration with Imanzi Business Institute, carried out field visits to conduct a Business Diagnosis among the pilot companies of the Workplace Learning Support Program (WPLSP), headed by APEFE, MIFOTRA & PSF
The diagnosis was conducted by delegates from IBI, APEFE, MIFOTRA, PSF Chambers, Associations and District coordinators; and in total, 110 businesses were surveyed in Kigali, Karongi, Huye, Gasagara, Gakenke, Musanze, Nyagatare, Rutsiro.

Training Objective
The objective of these field visits was to conduct a Business Diagnosis among the pilot companies of the WPLSP, with an aim to help them understand their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT); for them to improve in their respective business performance in terms of quality service delivery, product responsiveness to customers ‘needs and increased profitability.
Target Audience
Among those diagnosed, were companies from the beauty sector (hair dressing), leather processing, food processing and tailoring sector; beneficiaries of the WPLSP
Training Outline
Outputs of the business diagnosis included: – Conducting a SWOT analysis – Assessment on implementation of environmental conservation and gender measures by companies – Assessment on readiness of companies to accommodate apprentices in the next term – Assessment on use of new machinery provided by APEFE, e.g. sewing machines, etc. – Impact assessment of COVID-19 on business doing and demand of new skills for companies to remain functional.
Methodology
Use of questionnaires on field by a team of 5 people (including the team leader)
